Conti Federal has successfully completed the $8.74 million design-bid-build Maintenance Hangar Building #1643 Renovation project at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base (NASJRB) Fort Worth, Texas. Through construction and renovation, the Maintenance Hangar Building #1643 was transitioned from supporting the outgoing F16 Fighting Falcon to the new F35A Lighting II for the 301st Fighter Wing.  This essential project supporting the 301st Fighter Wing was phased, allowing for building occupants to maintain operations while enhancing operational capabilities. Conti Federal’s scope of work included extensive demolition, renovation, and new construction meeting strict ICD-705 requirements. New construction included a Communications Room, Utility Room, Egress Shop, Break Room, and Fire Suppression Room. We also installed new interior partitions, utility lines, and  overhead coiling doors to optimize the hangar’s functionality. Key upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems were completed, including HVAC modifications, new lighting, and electrical panels to support the hangar’s operations.

Conti Federal performed critical site civil work, including the installation of a new 6-inch PVC sanitary sewer lateral and directional boring for new communications and electrical lines. Our team also conducted extensive concrete work, compacting backfill to 95% density and ensuring all new pavement matched existing specifications. Concrete apron pavement was reinforced with a 6-inch stone base layer and drainage fabric for maximum durability.

To support operations, Conti Federal installed advanced electrical systems, including 270 VDC power converters for aircraft connection. The installation of aircraft umbilical cable assemblies and stainless-steel static grounding cables ensures operational safety and efficiency. In HVAC, we relocated and installed new ductwork, mini-split AC units, and air intake dampers to maintain optimal environmental control.

Our team also installed new plumbing systems, including piping for ice machines and compressed air, while upgrading fire suppression systems with new sprinklers and a state-of-the-art fire alarm and mass notification system. Interior renovations included new acoustical ceiling tiles, office furnishings, and updated signage throughout the hangar and support spaces.

This renovation ensures that Building #1643 remains a vital asset for the 301st Fighter Wing, enhancing the functionality and safety of the maintenance hangar and supporting the long-term operational needs of NASJRB Fort Worth.
