Conti Federal Services, a leading government contractor specializing in complex restoration and remediation projects, has completed a renovation project on an existing runway and two adjoining taxiways at an Air Force Base in southern Israel. The Conti Federal team returned a mission critical runway to operational status in just 28 calendar days, finishing ahead of schedule, thanks to its proprietary Warrior Lean methodology, announced publicly last week, which was employed throughout the project.
Renovation of the runway and taxiways involved milling asphaltic layers, repairing cracks in structural layers, paving and sealing the asphalt, and marking the runways correctly. Additionally, Conti Federal performed technical International Roughness Index testing (IRI) to ensure the correct flatness of the runway. The company managed quality control, safety, client coordination, and security and logistics required for base entry and material delivery, all of which was crucial to the success of the project. Utilizing Conti Federal’s Warrior Lean construction management system during the planning phase resulted in a 25% (26 day) reduction of the overall project duration.
“The team delivered an outstanding project at a critical time in Israel. They exceeded expectations in safety, quality, and schedule,” explained Mike Sziy, Regional Manager, Conti Federal. “We fully engaged all stakeholders during the planning sessions to head off any potential issues or delays early on, which allowed us to successfully complete the mission in a significantly shortened time frame.”
Conti Federal and its partners completed the job with no safety incidents.
Conti Federal has recently worked on similar projects, including several building systems upgrades for the United States Army Corps of Engineers Europe district consisting of renovations at its primary spaceport and one of the country’s most technologically advanced bases.
