Conti Federal Services, a leading U.S. government construction and engineering firm specializing in military construction and critical infrastructure, has been awarded a $14,998,242 contract to construct and renovate a Combat Rescue Helicopter training and simulator facility to support the 56th Rescue Squadron at Aviano Air Base in Aviano, Italy.
Awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Atlantic, the scope of the project consists of both the construction of a new addition and the renovation of an existing squadron operation facility to accommodate the Combat Rescue Helicopter simulator, which is set to arrive in 2025. This strategic facility enhancement is a crucial step in the continued support and readiness of the Combat Rescue Helicopter program.
The facility will include an operational flight trainer and simulator bay, versatile mission planning and computer training rooms, maintenance and utility zones, as well as administrative space for instructor personnel. Its purpose is to facilitate the 56th Rescue Squadron members in conducting training sessions for familiarization and proficiency in responding to aircraft emergencies. Additionally, the facility will enable the execution of crucial combat personnel recovery and rescue simulations.
“Securing this contract marks another great milestone for Conti Federal as we continue to build our presence throughout Europe,” said Michael Prudente, Conti Federal’s Vice President of Business Development for Europe and the Middle East. “We are proud to contribute to this mission that ensures our armed forces have the necessary resources for effective training and operations. This project emphasizes our commitment to getting the job done once, done right, and fortifies our position as a trusted partner in executing vital defense initiatives.”
The project is expected to be completed by December 2025, contributing to the continued excellence and efficiency of the United States Air Force’s operations in the region.
Conti Federal is currently working on three concurrent projects in Italy: the construction of a Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery (RADR) storage facility at Aviano Air Base; the modernization of critical facilities at the Naval Support Activity in Naples; and the renovation of the Joint Intelligence Center, Building 639, at the Naval Air Station II Sigonella in Sicily.
