Conti Federal is currently executing a $31.6 million renovation of Dock 81 at Ellsworth Air Force Base (AFB) in South Dakota. This project is a key component of the multi-year facilities beddown supporting the B-21 program, enhancing the Air Force’s maintenance infrastructure for next-generation aircraft.

The renovation will convert an existing 26,000 square foot general maintenance hangar into a state-of-the-art fuel systems maintenance dock. The project features a dedicated fuel cell bay designed to accommodate a single aircraft. Exterior modifications include the addition of an accessible entrance and a new connection corridor linking Dock 81 to Conti Federals’s adjacent Fuel Systems Maintenance Dock project. The project will employ both conventional demolition and new construction techniques to deliver a fully modernized facility.

Dock 81 will be upgraded to meet stringent security requirements, incorporating Intelligence Community Directive (ICD 705) standards for secure areas. The facility will be constructed in compliance with the Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), including UFC 1-200-01 for general building requirements and UFC 1-200-02 for high-performance and sustainable building standards. These enhancements ensure long-term durability and compatibility with DoD, Air Force, and base design standards.

As part of Conti Federal’s expanding military construction portfolio, this project reinforces the company’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure for the U.S. Air Force. Other major projects include the construction of a new B-21 Fuels System Maintenance Dock at Ellsworth AFB, a Helicopter Squadron Operations facility at F.E. Warren Air Force Base, and a Disaster Resiliency Program Formal Training Unit at Grand Forks Air Force Base.

Through innovation, precision, and a commitment to excellence, Conti Federal is ensuring that Dock 81 becomes a vital asset in sustaining the operational readiness of the B-21 mission for years to come.
