After a tornado already hit the Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany, Hurricane Michael brought a second wave of devastation. The first Category 5 Hurricane to strike the mainland United States in more than 25 years, Hurricane Michael hit the MCLB with gusts of 74 MPH and caused nearly $3 billion in estimated damages state-wide.
Conti Federal began repairing damages made by Hurricane Michael in February of 2020. Under the prime contractor CH2M Hill, later acquired by Jacobs Engineering Group, Conti Federal is replacing canopy structures, roofing, siding, gutters, flashing replacements and repairs, repairing HVAC and electrical systems, abating hazardous materials, replacing fencing and various other architectural finishes repair tasks. The majority of the facilities on the base are systemized metal building structures.
Given MCLB Albany’s mission of supporting US warfighters and providing Marine Corps families with a safe and secure environment to work and live, the repairs demand extensive schedule coordination with operational building owners and multiple trades, as well as close attention to detail.
