Anaklia Port and Free Industrial Zone Development

The Port will be developed by the Anaklia Development Consortium in 9 phases over a 49-year concession. The 1,000 hectares will be master planned for a regional logistics center and Free Industrial Zone to establish the city of Anaklia as a major integration point on the New Silk Road for Asia-Europe trade and commerce, with heavy involvement from China.

Conti Federal was the developer, part-owner and program manager to design and build Anaklia Port. The facility would accommodate large vessels (10,000 twenty-foot equivalent unit at opening) for high value shipping business. The combination of rail access, an intermodal facility, new multi-lane roadways, larger cranes, deeper channel/berths and modern equipment and communication infrastructure will expedite the loading/unloading operations and reduce vessel dwell time at the Port, which reduces costs to port users and cargo owners.

Conti Federal received BUILD’s 2015 international award for Outstanding Conceptual Design for its work with teaming partner, Moffatt & Nichol, on the Anaklia Port Engineering Design Project.
