Scope
Conti Federal was responsible for the design and construction of more than 20 facilities and structures on this artillery base. The project team constructed an instructional training building, a three-story barrack facility, a two-story office building, three artillery vehicle parking lots, an obstacle course, a dining facility with large kitchen capable of supplying more than 1,000 meals a day in five dining halls, an energy production center, and a high-voltage electrical center.
Work included all required utilities, storm drainage, communications, electric, HVAC, fire protection/alarm systems, roadways and walkways, exterior building lighting, and site development.
In addition, Conti Federal conducted an investigation for contamination of soils, pavements, and other site features. As hazardous materials were discovered, including asbestos, they were removed and disposed of according to applicable laws and regulations.
Although official certification was not required by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Conti Federal’s design of this project met LEED Silver requirements. The team performed value engineering changes, including merging three facilities into one, and maintained the original project schedule despite additional design reviews.
Key features of the project included:
Conti Federal received high performance evaluations of “Very Good” from USACE for its work on this project.
